Heat Pump Repair & Installation

In the summer they move heat from your home to the outside, while in the winter….

Heat pumps are essentially air conditioners that run in reverse. In the summer they move heat from your home to the outside, while in the winter they move heat from the outside into your home. Because heat pumps move heat, rather than create heat, your cost per BTU can be substantially lower. Unlike older heat pump technologies, Cold climate heat pumps can accomplish this task even in very low temperatures when there is very little heat remaining in the winter air. Seasonal preventative maintenance is important to the efficiency and long life of these units. Whether you need seasonal service, repairs, or would like to discuss how heat pump technology can reduce your heating costs in the winter while still cooling your home in the summer, Carlyle Home Service is ready to answer your questions and provide solutions.

Mini-splits & Cold Climate Heat Pumps

Mini-splits function the same way as a conventional heat pump….

Mini-splits function the same way as a conventional heat pump but rely less, or not at all on ductwork. They can heat or cool a single room (no ductwork), a few rooms (minimal ductwork), or an entire floor or wing of your home. Zoning options are unlimited. Retrofitting these units into existing homes is simplified because of the flexibility of ducting scenarios. Cold Climate Heat Pumps do everything a conventional split or mini-split can do but they operate efficiently well below freezing, Many people in the northeast and Canada use cold climate heat pumps without backup heat. This reduces or eliminates the need for electric strip heaters or a furnace.

Furnace Repair & Installation

Furnaces burn gas, propane, or oil to create heat which is then transferred through ducts…

Furnaces burn gas, propane, or oil to create heat which is then transferred through ducts or hot water pipes throughout your home. High efficiency furnaces use so much of the fuel energy that flue gases are cool enough to be vented through PVC pipes, thus eliminating the need for a traditional chimney. Propane and oil, although they can be burned very efficiently, cost more than gas. Replacing and old furnace with a high efficiency gas condensing unit might be a good investment. Regardless of which type of furnace you have, seasonal service and repairs are inevitable. From a combustion analysis of your old furnace to the installation of a new furnace, we can help.

Electric Resistance Heat

Although electric heat is notoriously expensive to use, it still has its place under certain circumstances.
Although electric heat is notoriously expensive to use, it still has its place under certain circumstances. Its low installation cost sometimes makes it a good choice for low demand areas. As a qualified electrical contractor, we can install, remove, or repair your electric heat. In addition, we can discuss a strategy for converting your electric resistance heat to a more cost effective option.

Gas Fireplaces

There are a lot of choices when it comes to gas fireplaces. Non-vented, vented, direct vent, or gas logs.

Heat Pump Repair & Installation

Air conditioners and heat pumps use gas compression principles to “pump” heat….
Air conditioners and heat pumps use gas compression principles to “pump” heat out of or into your home. A heat pump is a reversible air conditioner, allowing air conditioning in the summer and heating during the winter, whereas a conventional air conditioner is one-directional. We work with all makes and models and we can help answer your questions from SEER ratings to design and duct options. Carlyle Home Service is EPA certified and we would love to help you with seasonal maintenance, repairs, or sizing and installing new equipment.

Mini-splits Ductless/Ducted

Mini-split systems are very flexible and can be used to cool, (and heat)….
(Ductless or Ducted) - Mini-split systems are very flexible and can be used to cool, (and heat) a single room, multiple rooms, or and entire wing or floor of your home, with the added benefit of numerous zoning options. The selection is enormous. We would be happy to explain their capabilities and help you choose a design that fits your personal application.

Humidifiers and Dehumidifiers

In the cold, dry winter months, humidity levels can drop to uncomfortable levels….
In the cold, dry winter months, humidity levels can drop to uncomfortable and irritating levels. A humidifier simply monitors your homes humidity level and introduces moisture into your HVAC system when desired. Dehumidification, on the other hand, is often desired in the humid summer months or year round in damp environments such as a basement. Although your central air conditioning is generally capable of maintaining satisfactory humidity levels, in some cases your central AC doesn't run enough to maintain these levels. During cooler, damp weather, especially in well insulated modern homes, your thermostat wont call for cooling frequently enough, or for a long enough period of time to reduce humidity. A dehumidifier reduces moisture without cooling your home.

Air Filtration & Purification

In tighter, energy efficient homes, indoor air quality can suffer. With so little outside fresh air infiltrating your home, pollutants can accumulate to undesirable levels. Since you spend most of your time breathing this air, you may wish to take advantage of a number of filtration methods that will improve the quality of the air you and your family breathes. The central ductwork in your home offers a convenient method of whole house filtration. This can be as basic as replacing the filter in you air handler with a higher performing model, to installing more sophisticated technology such as electrostatic filters, UV bulbs, or HEPA filtration. We can help you select a suitable system or simply install a unit of your choice.
